New parents often find themselves adjusting to a challenging new reality with very little sleep.
Dr Petrina Wong, an associate consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, explains that establishing good sleep habits—such as a consistent sleep schedule with regular nap times and bedtimes—should begin from infancy. However, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all sleep plan for every child.
Dr Wong recommends that parents consult a doctor if they notice persistent, unusual, or frequent sleep issues, or if their child's sleep problems affect their daytime behaviour.
