“Dr Petrina Wong is an accredited paediatrician with the Ministry of Health in Singapore. She specialises in general paediatric conditions, childhood respiratory and sleep disorders.”
Dr Petrina Wong completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore. In 2007, she achieved her postgraduate qualifications from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) and later earned her Specialist accreditation in Paediatric Medicine in 2012. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Before moving into private practice, Dr Wong served as a Consultant in the Respiratory Service within the Department of Paediatrics at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Dr Wong helped to set up the multidisciplinary Neuromuscular Clinic in KKH. She was appointed KKH Service Chief in the SingHealth- Duke Sleep Centre in 2017.She also held roles as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, Clinical Senior Lecturer at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and was a Visiting Consultant at KK Hospital. As a recognition for work excellence and her dedication to patients, Dr Wong was awarded the SingHealth Outstanding Medical Officer Award in 2004, and the KKH Service from the Heart Award in 2014.
In 2013, Dr Wong completed Paediatric Sleep training at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA. She is accredited as a Paediatric Respiratory Medicine Specialist by the Asian Paediatric Pulmonology Society and earned the European Diploma in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine from the European Respiratory Society in 2016. Additionally, she holds certifications from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists in Clinical Sleep Health and as a polysomnologist.
With 18 years of training across various paediatric specialties, Dr Wong brings extensive experience in caring for babies and children. Her expertise spans general paediatrics, including newborn and well-baby screenings, childhood immunisations, developmental assessments, nutrition and growth guidance, and management of common childhood ailments. Additionally, Dr Wong specialises in respiratory and sleep disorders such as chronic cough, pneumonia, childhood wheezing, asthma, allergic rhinitis, snoring, sleep apnoea, parasomnias, and behavioural sleep issues.
Dr Wong actively engages in both local and international conferences and has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Passionate about highlighting the significance of quality sleep for child health, she frequently contributes to public forums and parenting magazines. Additionally, she served as the paediatric subspecialty interest group representative on the Gleneagles Medical Advisory Board from 2019 to 2023.
Dr Wong is fluent in both English and Chinese, and can also communicate in Malay. As a mother, she deeply empathizes with parents whose children are unwell. She is dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to lead a happy and healthy life. Having supported many children and their families, she remains committed to providing excellent care to her patients.
